Quantum currency · step 0 of 9

Before we count anything,
let's find the ground.

The field is primary. Things are what the field does locally. Before any model, any map, any strategy — we stand here first.

Quantum currency · step 0 · field · zero point

Let the ground
become visible.

Quantum field theory establishes that fields are more fundamental than particles — the primary reality is not objects moving through space but the field from which objects temporarily emerge. What the instruments revealed was not the billiard-ball universe of classical mechanics. It was something stranger: a field. Continuous, undivided, present everywhere simultaneously.

"The field is not between things. The field is primary. Things are what the field does locally."

Zero point energy is the irreducible minimum that remains even at absolute zero — the ground that is never truly empty. Before we build any financial model, governance structure, or exit strategy, we stand here first. We ask: what kind of ground are we in?

The Sower lens — a diagnostic carried through every step

The path

Seed lands but never roots. Information exists; it doesn't travel.

Rocky ground

Fast enthusiasm, no depth. Grows quickly, burns on friction.

Thorny ground

Too many competing demands. Energy leaks in all directions.

Good soil

Coherent, self-sustaining. The seed multiplies — ten-fold, hundred-fold.

Depth and breadth, always simultaneous. The soil is the ground inside you — what you carry, what you're metabolising, how present you are. And the soil is the ground outside you — the business, the team, the conditions you're planting in. Read only the inside and we stare at our navels. Read only the outside and we point fingers. Coherence architecture holds both — and works at the line where they meet.

What soil have you been planting in — and what soil are you standing in right now?

This question is not rhetorical. We are going to answer it together — inside and out.

Why this step exists

Step 0 is not a warm-up. It is the most important thing in the workshop. The ground state of the room — and the ground state of each participant standing in it — determines everything that follows. If anyone in the room is defended, distracted, or performing competence rather than actually present, no framework will root. The Sower lens is the tool. Presence is the soil. This step exists to create the conditions, inside and out, before anything else can grow.

The unconscious as field

Carl Jung gave the field a name that psychology could work with: the unconscious. Not the Freudian unconscious — the repository of repressed content — but something larger: the deeper intelligence that operates below the threshold of attention. The pattern-making that runs before the conscious mind arrives to take credit for it. The field is most legible obliquely — in sleep, in the hypnagogic threshold, in the aftermath of experiences that dissolve the ordinary architecture of selfhood. Step 0 asks the room to access that quality of attention before the frameworks begin.

Depth and breadth, embodied

This workshop holds a simple structural rule: every exercise moves inside and outside simultaneously. The personal audit stays with the participant. The business audit compiles into their playbook. Without the inside, the outside becomes blame. Without the outside, the inside becomes rumination. Coherence architecture is the line between them — and the line is where the work lives.

Reading the room — soil signals

Path signals

Phones out within the first five minutes. Questions that are really defences. The CEO answering for the team before they can speak.

Rocky ground signals

High energy, fast agreement, lots of "yes, exactly!" with no specifics. Enthusiasm that doesn't slow down to examine anything.

Thorny ground signals

People who keep bringing in other priorities mid-exercise. The CEO who keeps expanding scope rather than focusing it.

Good soil signals

Genuine pauses before answering. Someone naming a hard truth without being asked. Silence that feels productive rather than uncomfortable.

What this step tends to surface

The most common revelation in Step 0 is that the room already knows what soil it is in — it simply hasn't had a structure for naming it. The Sower lens provides that structure. When it lands, the relief is palpable. Not because the ground has changed, but because something that was ambient and unnamed has become legible — inside and out.

This is the first page of your playbook. There are no right answers here — only honest ones. The quality of everything that follows in this workshop depends on the quality of your honesty in this exercise. Take the full time. This page belongs to you.
Personal — stays private to you. Not included in the compiled playbook. Business — compiles into the playbook you take at the end of Step 3.
1

The soil audit — inside

Personal

Think back across your professional relationships. Place at least one in each quadrant — name it however feels right. Then note briefly: what made that soil what it was, from your side? What did you bring to it?

The path

The seed never rooted. What happened to the energy you brought?

Rocky ground

Enthusiasm that didn't hold. What was missing underneath?

Thorny ground

Good work, crowded out. What were the competing forces?

Good soil

Something took root and multiplied. What made this ground different?

2

The soil audit — outside

Business

Now the same four quadrants, applied to the business. Where is this business — or the parts of it, the teams, the client relationships, the offerings — planting in each kind of soil right now? Be specific. Name the project, the person, the team.

The path

Where is the business scattering seed that never roots?

Rocky ground

Where is there growth that won't hold under pressure?

Thorny ground

Where are good things being crowded by competing priorities?

Good soil

Where is the business already multiplying what it plants?

3

The field you arrived with today

Personal

What did you bring into this room that might make it harder to be present? Name it briefly. Naming it is how you set it down.

4

The zero point question

Business

If you stripped away every role, every deliverable, every metric — what is the energy this business is actually operating from? Not what it produces. What it generates from within.

To carry forward — the Sower question

At every step of this workshop, we will return to one question: what kind of ground are we in right now?

Not as a judgment. As a calibration. The seed — the framework, the model, the strategy — doesn't change. What changes is how honestly we can see the ground we're planting it in. Inside and out.

The hundred-fold yield is not a miracle. It is what coherent systems do when the conditions are right.
